Overview
On the western coast of France in the late 16th century, the cold and rough waters of the Atlantic ocean were strewn with debris, cargo, and dead bodies. Mangled carcasses drifted ashore and ships still ablaze casted a ghostly light on the water. War had erupted on the coast of western Europe between the English and the Spanish, but the question of why this horrible event happened still remained.
Queen Elizabeth I of England and King Phillip II of Spain where both drawn into a series of vicious attacks caused by a multitude of reasons. Declining relations between the two countries along with religious and political differences added to the list of causes of this great war. In the end, the English would be victorious and wain off the opposing armies of the Spanish. Despite the massive casualties on both sides of the conflict, the English's defeat of the Spanish Armada decreased Spain's influence in Europe and enabled the English Empire to expand and thrive.
